Blog Post #4

As you know Caroline and I last week turned in our marketing ideas for the support group to our social worker. I emailed the ideas to her, but she hasn't emailed us back yet. We are going to email her tomorrow and see if she got it. To be honest I sort of forgot about our project for a while. I feel bad that lately we haven't been as on top of our project as we usually are. That is one thing that makes me a little nervous, because I don't want to get really busy and not have time for our program. Caroline and I will have to come up with a system to keep on top of everything. When we hear back from our social worker, we will try to start putting our program together. Till then I will email her and wait to hear back.

Blog Post #3

So Caroline and I finally put a plan together for the program we want to create. I sent it off to our Social Worker and she said she would look at it and talk with the other social workers and we would go from there. I am so excited for our project because I feel like we could really make a difference for the teens from the hospital and the teens in our community who participate. One problem we ran into in our planning was that we didn't  know what restrictions we would put on the program. We didn't want to tell anybody that they couldn't come if they wanted to participate, but we also didn't want just anyone and everyone showing up. We decided that as of right now we are going to keep the restrictions loose and see who will show up and tailor the program from there. Hopefully all goes well!!

Blog Post #2

Yesterday Caroline and I met with the social worker at the cancer center and she loved our idea. She was on board with it 100%. It was nice to know that our project idea is a possibility. I know Mr. P told us not to worry about failing, but I am so type A that I will not let my project fail. Anyway Caroline and I are going to start coming up with a game plan, like who we want to target, where and when and how often we will meet. I am so excited to get to work on our project, and know that it is a possibility.

Blog Post #1

Hi! My name is Lucy and this is the first post of my 20 Time project. Coming up with an idea for 20 Time was really hard at first. I had no idea what I was going to do, but then my classmate Caroline and I were talking and we were thinking of similar projects so we just decided to work together. Our project is to create a teen to teen program at our local cancer hospital. This program would entail teen cancer patients being paired up with a teen from our community and they can be another form of support to their cancer patient. We would have to write the protocol for the program, propose it to the center, and train the teens from our community. Both cancer patients and teen volunteers would have to sign up to participate in the program, and we would pick the volunteers we admit to the program to make sure they are able to handle the responsibility. We really wanted to do this project because I had cancer and when I was undergoing treatment I felt like I would have benefited from extra support. We just want to provide another from of support for teens in our community with cancer.
